Terry: Beyond the Name

Her salary for The Wizard of Oz was reportedly $125 per week, which was more than many of the human actors, including some of the Munchkins, received! Life on set wasn’t always easy for Terry. During filming, she sustained a broken foot, requiring her to take time off to heal. Judy Garland, who played Dorothy, developed a strong bond with Terry, wanting to adopt her. However, Terry’s owner, Carl Spitz, refused, as he was a professional animal trainer and relied on Terry for his livelihood.
